Lady Distance Classic 10K

I did a 10k race with Jessica this morning. I did the walk and Jessica did the run. A 10k is 6.2 miles and I finished in 1 hour and 27 minutes. That is a 14:04 pace and I was 47 out of 156 women who did the 10k walk. Jessica finished the run in 1 hour and 59 seconds.

This picture has a story... After I crossed the 6 mile marker I knew that I only had 0.2 to go. As I was walking I saw my daughter and grandson's cheering for me. Since I saw them I just figured that I had somehow passed the finish line so I stopped and started giving Easton a high five. I finally realized that Jessica was yelling at me to finish the race! I looked up and saw the finish line a few yards ahead. This picture was taken as I realized that I wasn't done and took off at a sprint to actually cross the finish line!

Check out my jacket! I won this for getting 3rd place in my age division.

Me and my grandsons. The best fashion accessories ever!!

Visiting Easton and Brady

I went over to Cincinnati to visit Jessica and her boys this weekend.  We had a good time.  Easton enjoyed taking rides in my truck and both boys liked swimming at the pool.

Yep, that is my reiner with a barrel saddle on!! She was really embarrassed and would not put her ears up for a picture. She is absolutely the BEST horse in the whole world. She is my sanity. I bet she would have came up the tree house steps with me if I would of asked. We both enjoyed a day off of ridin' and slidin'!! She is in such good shape she barely broke a sweat.

J W Jones Stables and Trail Riding.........a new place Dave Shaw told me about.

There are little cabins like the one in the distance scattered throughout the area.

Marion and Trickle riding on the trails.

Riding up to the highest tree house that I have ever seen!

The tree house went even higher yet!!! Easton, you would like climbing this tree with Grandma!

I was out trimming around my flowers this evening and was excited to see my first rose! Spring is really here!! It was getting dark so the picture does not quite express how beautiful it is. The mosquitoes enjoyed me as well.

OK I do not know how to put these in the correct order so you have to go backwards......

Dave shinning up the side of a clift

Dave and Rita Buckles are our trail riding friends. Dave does some of the GEO cach hide and seek stuff. He had the coordinates for one off of trail 9. He found it!!!!!!! In a Tupperware container. It contained a dollar, a knife, a notebook, a pen, etc. I guess you are suppose to write in the notebook and leave it there. We were quite excited!!! I shinnied up as well and took some pictures. My friend, Pam, and her grandson's found one in West Point cemetery not too long ago.

Trudi and Jigs

I rode Jennifer's horse, Trudi, this weekend. She did very well for not trail riding before. We had to have a couple discussions about going across water and downhill. Fortunately, I won!! She was doing quite well by yesterday afternoon. I still had to help her some but she is gaining confidence. Jennifer now owes "me" a training fee!?!?!

Memorial Day Weekend Annual Trail Ride

It was a great weekend as usual riding in Hoosier National Park. Great stress reliever!! We cooked our meals this time and it was quite yummy. I tried a new pasta salad with artichoke hearts and it was great. Last night I made a shrimp and crab boil with whole corn on the cob that was a recipe in my Country magazine. It was absolutely wonderful. I will make it the next time we have a family get together. To top things off I had made an apple pie and a rhubarb pie the morning we left. Definitely, a non diet weekend. I did get up and walk 2 miles though. It was so beautiful and so fragrant with all the blooming spring plants and trees.

MOST IMPORTANT EVENT OF TODAY

PLEASE scroll down past the dog and hot tub pictures and view the earlier posts from today. The hot tub and dog pictures are fun and cute, but the major focus of the day and our purpose for today's visit was Joe's (and his family's) new calling as Bishop of the Coldwater Michigan Ward.

Benson supervising the fetch the ball game!

He took control of those Labs and showed them who was boss right off. Obviously, the superior by far dog!!!

Brody and Red

Posing dutifully for the camera!

Joey and Grandma enjoying the hot tub!!

Joey and I had fun! Boy oh boy, did it feel good on my sore back and chest. If I did not have to go to work I would have stayed a week for the hydrotherapy. Joey was very interested in all my bruises. He agreed to take care of me when I was old and to push me in the wheelchair. Whew!!!!!!! that was a load off my mind! I have such sweet grandkids. Just adore and love all of them!!
